The product of the tough streets of NYC and the kind of education you can only get here. Loud, literate with a mess of influences. Writer/musician/ producer/ Harley brings a lot to the table and invites the whole disfunctional family to sit down just to see what fireworks will go off. Based on real life city stories and some made up, "Hidden Drive" covers a bit of ground but not so much that you wonder what's going on.. Lots of great guitar sounds drums bass mellotron and of course tambourine,,,oh yeah and vocals...
Just listen and be happy now.Indie International
"Harley Fine's unique voice, combined with interesting instrumentation that draws from a host of well-defined influences, makes Hidden Drive an album full of fun surprises."- Chris Garges, well known recording engineer/guru/Tape-Op Magazine contributor
"Got amp? A smorgasbord of gourmet guitar, everything a tone connoisseur could ever want." - Buddy Woodward, musician/producer.
"60's Music fan loves your record: I dig Harley's record! Being a huge 1960's rock music lover, I completely identify with Hidden Drive. Great guitar and bass, and very smart, witty songs. The record sounds great in the speakers too. A lot of influences were mentioned in the review on the main page, but I think a little David Bowie snuck in there too, which is always a great thing. Great rock album. Congratulations, and please keep on writing! Love it, Harley" - Chris C., NYC musician
"This guy is redefining guitar music. I just got the CD and it is very tastefully done. I have seen this guy play guitar with Tommy Frenzy live and have been waiting for this record. I think the best tune on the CD is "Mr. Zero." This guy has one great future as a guitar and production hero. - Robert McCulloh, Hillsadale Rock Journal.
"true artists are always evolving...their beautiful body of work constantly in progress..harley fine is one of those rare musicians unafraid to share his life through his art...I'm loving this cd" - Matt Smith, recording artist/author/guitar whiz and contributing editor to Guitar Player.
"Harley Fine's Rough Mix Records release, Wild Life, blends classic rock formulas with a unique contemporary flare. This CD has a great groove and definitely has a hot summer night, blaring from the car speaker with the top down mood. Yeah, I could see me breaking a few speed limits listening to this music. At timeS his voice seems reminiscent of Shaun Mullins, then is processed a la Marilyn Mansion, but is uniquely his own. The use of the slide guitar reminds you of "Morphine" at times, but it works very well in the structure of his music. Harley also pays homage to the classic blues and rock artists but in a unique way.
"Some of my favorite cuts are: "47 Miles," "Crash," "Sacred Heart," "Burn," and "Jail". These songs are well crafted and have great grooves and the line "Dead Dog Coupe De Ville" has to go down in history as one of the greatest lyric lines ever written. This is a very easy and enjoyable
collection of songs to listen to.
"Harley is backed by some great musicians: Duane Cleveland on drums, Tony Maimone on Bass and R.K Watkins on guitar. The musicianship is great on this album. It is well produced and well crafted."
